There will be 42 plots in which Pharmaceutical Ingredient Manufacturing Industrial units will be set up. About 25,000 people will get employment opportunities in the project. All infrastructural facilities including Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) and waste Dumping Yard will be available in this project. At present, earth development and other infrastructural works are going on.

API or Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients are the main chemical components of a drug. At present, Bangladesh imports the API needed for its local production from China, India, Germany, Switzerland and other EU sources. Focus on API production can give two advantages to Bangladesh-

•   First, producing the API locally will decrease the cost of locally manufactured drugs and it will add to the cost advantage for exports.
•   Second, API can themselves be exported to countries and compared to drug products, API are easier to export. Global API market stands at 150+ Bn USD.
